Beautiful building from the outside

Outside the building is beautiful, I wish I could say the same about the inside. .

Our building stank of damp maybe? Dust everywhere, Spider webs everywhere, mould in the bathroom. The ‘bar’ was awful, not to mention not actually staffed

Generally lived upto expectation

staff where very friendly, helpful location is ideal, lake views from hotel room very nice breakfast was well organized and worked well

Bar is very basic, not much stock/choice so we ended up drinking elsewhere(two good pubs nearby) hotel could do with some investment as looking alittle tired in places

Great value for price, lovely scenery and friendly staff

The bedroom was lovely and spacious with a bath/shower/hairdryer etc. The view of the lake was lovely and staff were very friendly.

The bars on the windows weren't too nice to look at and there were 2 mugs I'm our room with dirty tea marks on (despite being advised all mugs and similar items would be removed due to covid). The dinner option wasn't great and the menu didn't match what we'd seen on the website.

It was a beautiful old building, had a wow factor from the outside, set in lovely grounds. Our room was amazing.

This hotel was under staffed. At dinner we were left sitting for an hour before being told most of the menu was unavailable. Ended up having to eat elsewhere.

The old fashion rooms are not really fit for purpose! Some with small entrance! “Mind your head!” Some no hot water! Some no shower! The modern rooms however are amazing!

Reasonable cost for what you get.

Peaceful nights of sleep. The lake at the back, by the bar, with bird life all around it - somewhere great for evening drinks together, or with friends. Lovely location for wedding photographs.

The rope "handrail" on the 2 flights of wooden stairs was FAR TOO LOOSE AND FLOPPY to be any real use to us (as 2 OAP's in room 7). Also, the plug-point nearest the kettle didn't accept the plug. We ended up using the one outside the bathroom. Also, the shower was hand held. Needs better signage at the hotel's drive entrance.

Location is nice.

Room was dirty/dusty. We had a dead woodlice in our bed. Carpet was so filthy we had to wear shoes at all times unless in bed. The room floor was not level so this resulted in the bed being not level either. Very uncomfortable.

very nice property, great room, traditional and charming property. But lacking in service.

lovely property, hidden in a rural setting by a lake. Peaceful and aesthetic.

noise from other guest rooms. Dinner menu is very basic, and unbecoming of the property. A grand dining hall and you have cheeseburger, Chile con carne! A bit roast etc would be more fitting. Due to Covid, the amenities in the room were poor and unreplenished.

Very pleasant stay and I will return.

The hotel is in a pleasant setting by the balancing lake so nice looking out from the bar. The room was comfortable and warm. The dining room is a tastefully decorated room and the menu, although limited in these strange circumstances. offered something to suit everyone's palate. The hotel is nicely renovated, not too much , not too' blingey 'and so has a kind of faded elegance and authenticity which is appealing. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

Minor touches need adjusting like the rotten seals on the bath and scuffs on the paintwork - just a general eye to detail really. Might be nice to have toilets with a sanitization seal on them in these Covid days as lots of other hotels are doing.

The room was comfortable and clean. The location was great. More than enough parking. Staff were very friendly

The section of the hotel that I was staying in needed attention, the wall papers was old and in places was ripped. The fire/security door was propped open and was damaged (no handle). Could have done with a fan as the room was stuffy and only had small windows, which did not provide much air.

Nice hotel. Staff were friendly.

Hotel was quite noisy in the morning. I could hear lots of banging noises in the morning. Lots of brown splotches on the ceiling of the bathroom – I wasn’t sure if this was mould but it didn’t look nice.
